06' Toyota Prius Install w/JBL system and Nav

Great product! I purchased this unit with the Axxess TYTO-01 Wiring Harness for my 06' Prius - works flawlessly! Great instructions and how to's available on the website, walked me right through the complete install into my '06 Prius with zero issues, all controls work as supposed to. I initially tried to go the combined unit route with a PAC RP4.2-TY11, but PRIUS owners beware, it has issues with integration on JBL systems (sound flickering) and the instructions were severely lacking. Cost me $120, I'd spare you that pain, go with AWSC-1. ~ Salavash

  • Top critical review

    Be careful

Purchased this product after doing a lot of research. Some people have stated they have had success installing this, I did not. The instructions are difficult to follow (you would think it would be easy, it is only a few wires and possibly a resistor). I do know this module is for many different cars and radios. I was attempting to use it with a Hyundai Veloster and a Boss Audio radio. I may attempt to work with it some more, but it is really a pain to get the radio in/out of the car. My suggestion is to attempt to find someone on a forum or an audio shop to see if this would work for you.

  • works

works fine. The documentation that comes with the product needs to be ignored and you just go to their website. I'm an electronics person so for me this was a cinch....very happy with the product. And there is always one thing of course.. from my steering control it just goes to radio, and I can go to the next station in the radio, but not to the next preset, so the three FM's and the AM I need to engage by hand on the touch screen of the 2din...Kenwood DDX24BT...

  • Great product, even greater support from Metra

Once the wiring was correct, it detected my car like a charm. The manufacturer METRA gives excellent installation guides and good support if you don't figure it out. Detected all the 5 buttons on my Toyota Corolla 2019 and also supports long press functions. My only doubt is why don't the radios come with such interfaces built in by default.

  • Works like it is supposed to easier to install than it looks 2005 4Runner

Looks harder to install than it actually is. All of those wires are to make it compatible with multiple brands and combinations of steering wheel controls. I installed on 2005 Toyota 4 Runner that only has volume...station or track up and down...and a mode button on steering wheel. This only required me to run power and a ground (jumped to one of) three wires coming from the steering wheel control plug that used to go in factory radio. I have a Pioneer AVH390BS which has a 3.5 SWC plug on the chasis so I just plugged that into back of radio/head unit. I had to mod installation a bit and run a jumper wire from a separate ground to the ground wire on the old radio plug. Would not work just running to a different ground...tried that. It had to be wired according to instructions with a jumper ...
