Bought 5 of these. Love them!

I have bought 5 of these. The first 3 went extremely well. Very easy set up and function properly. The last two got stuck and couldn't get beyond "downloading updates". I got on a forum and found the way to fix this, it required a wired ethernet connection, do a HARD reset (hold the reset button in untill the system responds) and when the AT&T logo shows up, press and release the reset button. when the AT&T logo shows up again, press and release the reset button. The instructions said to do this soft reset 7 times. I was skeptical, but it worked on both boxes! I'm thinking these boxes ship with the old AT&T firmware that doesn't mesh with the new DirecTV Stream backend. And this process blows out the AT&T bits and allows the DirecTV data to downloard.

  • Once setup it works exactly the same as the ATT TV Streaming box.

This is the same ANDROID box product that can be purchased from ATT, but half the price. It needs to be reset with updated ATT TV software. Once setup it works exactly the same as the ATT TV Streaming box. Here's steps I followed: 1.Hook up an ethernet cable to the device. 2.Hard reset by pushing the red button for ~10 sec until you see the AT&T Logo on the TV 3.Immediately soft reset (momentary red button push) 7 times in a row after each time AT&T Logo appears on the TV 4.Device should come back up and do a “System Update” download and install (`20 min) 5.After the System Update is complete it will reboot and succeed with Checking for Updates (`10 min) 6.After selecting “Get Google” it got stuck with “Please Wait”. Unplug and let it restart to clear.  May have to soft reset if still ...

  • Nice box/remote. Easy to use.

Device was stuck in "checking for updates" Had to: 1. plug the device into a working ethernet port. 2. Press the red reset button. 3. Once you see the AT&T logo, press the red reset button again. 4. Do #3 about 5 times. 5. A message should appear with "System Updating" 6. Could take up to 30 minutes. 7. System should update normally now.

  • Glad I bought it

I was using an Apple 4k box to use DirecTV Stream because my brand new LG OLED TV does not support the DirecTV App. Well, the apple box and the apple remote kind of sucked. The AT&T Now/DirecTV Stream box worked a lot better. Fast forward, previous channel, rewind, guide, etc. buttons make the experience a lot better. UVerse was way better and I'm not happy we got rid of it, but if you are stuck with DirecTV Stream, buy the AT&T Now box!

  • Great little box, just have to update hardware

Works very well, just like a new box from AT&T. Much better than using the regular TV remote to move around. Very similar to Directv screen when using AT&T remote and box. Only issue is that you have to update the hardware, before you can update the software. Push the red reset button and hold till AT&T logo appears on screen. Push the button five to seven times more and then stop. Unit should update the hardware and proceed through setup
