  • Umax Astra 3400 Flatbed Scanner

I bought this scanner because it was CHEAP! The software that came with it (Astra Scanners Version 3.73) is copyrighted 2000, so I'm guessing it's an older machine. It seems to do it's job ok, but my I did like my previous scanner a little better (Umax Astra 2100U), mainly because I liked the software better (Magic Scan), as in my view, it was easier to use and I liked the control window better, because it was larger. UPDATE: At this point, I should also mention that it is for older Mac computers and does not use the newer USB technology.

  • Costly Lesson--Time consuming loss.

Spent many, many hours trying to get the product to work--The product is out of date and no longer supported by the manufacturer. Had to buy a disc from Umax and that was a waste of time and money. The product was new in original packaging but the software would not work with windows XP even with the disc recommended by Umax. Over a period of 3 to 4 weeks , I spent approximately 55 hours trying to get the scanner to perform properly. It has been a very sad experience.I would love to be able to return the product for credit.
