awesome, takes lot space on seatpost, not longest battery life
awesome and super bright and love the pulsating mode (a study done proved that was the safest option) but if you dont have a lot of seatpost sticking out (shorter people) or use a strap on rear fender you may have a hard time finding space for it. also, much shorter battery life than my light and motion vis 180 (what can you expect? its so small)...overall worth the 30 bucks

Blazingly Bright!
Was a little skeptical about this because it's new and there are very few reviews. I knew Cygolite made good products. I have their Hotshot Micro USB and it rocks. This thing kicks serious ass! It's incredibly bright over a very wide angle. It doesn't have 180 degree coverage, I'd say about 160 which is plenty on the street. After I tested the first one I bought, I immediately bought another one for my other bike. For the price you can't go wrong. If you really wanted WIDE angle coverage to the rear you could arrange 2 of them pointing slightly outward and you could achieve greater than 180 degree coverage since their beam would over lap to the back.Was a little skeptical about this because it's new and there are very few reviews. Like it as part of a 2 light combo
I really like this light. I use it in conjunction with a Cygolite Hotshot 150 rear light. The Hotshot 150 is definitely brighter by a comfortable margin. I've confirmed it's easily noticeable from at least a half mile away, but it's only visible straight back from the bike. It gives off no lateral light at all. The Hotrod 50 is about a third as bright (50 lumens vs 150 lumens) but it's got a much wider spread so it can be easily seen from about 75 degrees off center. That gives me a lot more light to the sides to make me noticed by cars. That's also worth noting since the Hotrod 50 is designed to mount flat to an angled seat post. In conjunction with the Hotshot 150 I have the 150 blinking slowly and the 50 blinking fast. The 150 grabs the attention of a driver behind me then the 50 ... I really like this light. For nighttime riding the Hotrod 50 is plenty of rear light all by itself. Nice wide beam and more than bright enough against the dark background of night, even if you're riding under a street lamp. In the daytime....it's borderline as to if it's enough all by itself but it probably is. I'd still recommend the Hotrod 50 as part of a 2 light combo for daytime riding. See from the photos how I use it with the Hotshot 150. Note, the Hotrod 50 does not mount horizontally like this out of the box. I had to get creative to get it mounted stably that way.

Group ride the night I received my light. Great quality light, very bright. It's actually great having multiple modes. It has mode memory so it returns to the mode it was on when it was turned off. Never need to buy batteries! Perfect on the seat stay, seat tube or the seat post. So there is plenty of strap. I am feeling more comfortable about night riding now even outside of a group. A+++ item!
