Works well with few compromises
The dock works well and the included fan keeps things cool. I was using another USB hub previously and it started to show signs of heat damage. This one works great with no heat issues and I no longer have spontaneous drop-outs from my monitor. Great idea, needs app compatibility. Most of the apps that are compatible require fees, or monthly fees.
The software is severely limited. I bought this to be able to use a keyboard to fill out different android applications information. 99/9% of the applications aren't supported in the DeX app. You have to use the Mirror mode to fill them out, which is ok, not great. A number of the apps that are supported don't have the same controls, so functions like scrolling in a web browser aren't the same as with either the app on the phone, or on a computer OS. Make sure your screen has multiple HDMI ports, otherwise not exactly a pleasure having to swap cables every ime, and you won't use it much. Charger is faster then if I plug the type C directly into the phone. Also like the fan to keep the phone cool. I am concerned that extended use, driving a full sized external monitor,and heat might brick my 1000 dollar s9Plus(actually Xfinitys' but I'd still have to pay) Might work well for travel. Plug into HDMI of hotel TV screen, if that works, and with a long enough cable, and your own keyboard, have access to the web. Lighter then a laptop, and no worries of missing speed due to throttles on WIFI hotspot use, ala Xfinity limiting to .6 mbps. Barely works.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Save $$ and Get the DeX Pad Before Considering a Desktop
Was in the market for a desktop. I found an excellent deal on the DeX Pad ($50) and purchased it. For browsing, managing email (Nine email app for Android), and Word/Excel files, it has been surprisingly productive. It really is close to a true desktop experience for my S9+. I'm quite happy. Dex mode is great. This item is a steal at THIS price.
I iniitially decided to buy because it's rather cheap here (compared to local stores), but after I really tested it.. Well DeX mode is GREAT. App support is useable. Only issue I found is that it's difficult to use biometrics when phone is in dock.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Nice, but has many issues
If you have any case on your phone it will not fit on this. You'll have to get an extender, which do cause issues with display. The fan is useless and comes unplugged easily because the phone just sits on top of device. It also will not take any charger other than a Samsung brand fast charger it it will not work. A lot of apps do not display with the proper format either. BUT, it does function and create a PC style experience, but not worth the price. Every day use
This is the second DeX pad I have bought. I use the first one I bought so often I bought a second so I can leave one hooked up to my big screen in the living room and have a second one for mobility. I strongly recommend purchasing a short plug extender of good quality to keep from having to remove your case everytime you want to place your phone in the mount. Don't forget to pick up a wireless mouse and keyboard. Both of my DeX pads work so well with my note 9's I'm probably about to drop my satellite internet provider since I have unlimited data and hotspot for my phones.
