Operation
The engine looks great, but the operation leaves something to be desired. The Pittman motor that is in the unit is 6 volts dc which limits the speed and operation of the engine. A 12 volt motor would have been a better choice. The smoke units do work well.

A lucky purchase of an all time favourite
Being a long time Southern Pacific Fan ( since I was a Kid ) it is very fortunate that I could purchase this wonderful Steam Loco. It is not as perfect as some O Scale examples by other manufacturers but I have managed to get some Super Detail Parts to enhance the Loco. Last year I took the Coast Starlight up the old Espee mainline where three Cab Forwards wereused to lift a 4500 Freight Train over the Cascade Mountains. The O Scale Model is the same as the only surviving Prototype that sits in the Railroad Museum in Sacramento.
