Product Information
The first generation Amazon Echo was Amazon’s first smart speaker. It provides music playback from various online streaming services such as Spotify and Amazon Music as well as from mobile devices using a Bluetooth connection. The white speaker can also connect to external speakers via Bluetooth if you want more punch than it can provide by itself. Even on its own, though, the Echo’s 2.5 inch speaker and independent tweeter speaker provide clear, sharp, omnidirectional sound. If you have more than one Echo, you can also sync them up to play the same audio in different rooms of your house. The main feature of the Echo, though, is Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant. Alexa responds to voice commands and will play and pause music, adjust the volume, and play tracks by specific artists when told to. She can also search the Internet to find you the latest weather reports and news headlines. Her features aren’t limited to media playback and weather updates, either. The Echo can be linked to compatible apps and smart home devices. Depending on how you set up your Echo with partnered apps, Alexa can adjust the heating in your home, turn your lights on and off, call you a cab, and even make phone calls.Product Identifiers

Still the best
Like this version the best. The new version does not give you much of a choice for colors and you can get a skin for the 1st generation version. The speaker is great, fills the room with sound. Replaced an Echo Dot which sucked...wouldn't stay connected to the external speaker, always having to pair it or reconnect it to the internet, etc. Plugged this one in and it worked right away.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Alexa, I'll ax her...
We have had fun with Alexa. She even keeps you company when you're alone. Beware, is anyone else listening as well? (J/K) She was easy to set up and seems durable. I get regular e-mail with suggestions of additional ways to use her information. The only thing I do not like about it is that you have to purchase Amazon music or else you'll only get a snippet when you ask her to play a song. Careful
This is my second Echo. The first one I purchased at Home Depot for $139. I knocked it off my nightstand a few times with no damage. The last time it fell, it completely died. So now it's just after Christmas and they are few and far between to purchase one. Amazon has a back order for almost a month for $179 and eBay tries to rape you with prices up to $300. I finally gave in and purchased one for $200. I love the Echo and all the accessories that you can purchase for it. BEWARE, buy a stand or wall mount for your Echo and protect your investment. Replaced an Alexa I had for 9 years. Glad to have Her Back
I had this original Alexa first generation years ago. It served me well for many years. For some reason it just died a few weeks ago. I thought of replacing it with a newer, third generation Alexa. But the newer ones are small with the time on them and it just doesn't appeal to me. So I went back in time and found this one ... Original... New in a box. Had to get it. Handy assistant
My wife and I are not very tech savvy as we did not have electronic devices when we were growing up but we are adjusting and learning how to use these new devices and this device is very handy spelling difficult words and difficult math problems and my favorite is the weather and extended weather forecast and our Gran daughters love playing their favorite music.
