Great movie starring, Timothy Dalton, the best working in film and TV today. The film is scary. The sets, wardrobe, photography and writing are incredible. I cannot understand why this series did not get the best actor in a series, Timothy Dalton;Best actress in a series, Eva Green; Best script, best costumes, best directing and more Emmy Awards. Engrossing, relaxing, perplexing, stimulating entertainment.
This is an enjoyable flight of dark fantasy. The scenes at the Grand Guignol (this is what folks did before horror movies) are rather like the series in microcosm. The characters are theatrical onions. We watch as layer after layer is peeled back with growing apprehension that the centers are dark, slimy and rotten. Binging this series is my latest guilty pleasure. Also, it's great to see Billie Piper again, and dirty old man that I am, to see all of her! Great Program
The Penny Dreadfiul series is to me fantastic. I have always been a fan of the old time horror films and literature. This series incorporates characters, such as, Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolf Man, among others, and tells stories with a different twist. The writing is great. The edition case is just normal, maybe they should have created a different art (is the same as the slip case) but thats ok. The slip case has a nice glowing effect. Good movie for those that like a unique gothic horror tale.
Very different type of movie and has a great cast. Eva Green is one of my favorite actresses and her Gothic appearance made for a good casting for the part. The movie is a little rough and has some perverted sex which I didn't like but still a great movie.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great Fantasy Series
I originally watched on Netflix and lreally enjoyed the episodes and the music I didn't really like the images shown in the intro but once you get to the show it great I highly recommend and It finishes with an ending so it's complete set...on a side note I also really enjoyed the series Spartacus, a non fantasy seriesVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Gone too soon
So sorry to hear that the show has been cancelled and so the final season is just that. I hear rumors that there is a planned new show which takes place in the 1930s so maybe its going to become like the American Horror Story franchise. Time will tell.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Penny Dreadful was actually quite good
Not sure what I expected when I ordered this but definitely not what it appears to be. it was a great DVD series and that kind of shocked me. I didn't want to stop watching it. From beginning to end it was a great series. The characters were engaging, the lines are easy to follow and whoever wrote it and did the costumes and makeup did an awesome job. Great Storyline was Sorry to reach the END!!!
What a great story all of the standard horror films worked into an interesting and incredibly beautiful story of Good vs Evil. Just like is society today well hidden in plain view and complicated by the complexity of each religious view and the additional slew of history. But, in the end it’s plain ole Good vs Evil and the watcher is left to decide what they believed happened.
