Synopsis
François Villon was born in Paris in 1431. His life was blighted by destitution and ill health, robbery and murder, torture and exile. While we do not know what became of Villon after his 32nd year, the poems he produced in just six years capture in forceful, intelligent and candid verse the low and high life of Paris. They constitute a body of work with few rivals in the literature of his own country or in that of any other. Peter Dale has revised his translations for this new edition. Peter Dale was born in Addleston, Surrey, and worked as a secondary school teacher before becoming a freelance writer in 1993. He was co-editor of the poetry journal Agenda for many years. Well known for his translations of Dante's Divine Comedy and the poems of Jules Laforgue, he is also an accomplished poet in his own right. His selected poems, Edge to Edge , was published in 1997., Francois Villon was born in Paris in 1431. Zoom books shipped in a plastic bag, but doubled the bag. I was relieved to see the interior bag, as the exterior bag was rubbed, stretched, had multiple holes. Books arrived okay, but I wish all the book sellers would offer a buyer the option of paying more for cardboard to protect the books, especially the corners. Many used books are vintage, and it's a shame to dent their corners in shipping. Books were as listed and a good value, and correct items sent. GOOD SELLER.

My book came not in the way described- I mentioned it to Zoom Books (Seller), who promptly addressed the situation and gave me options on how to proceed...which I was NOT expecting. These days, exceptional Customer Service can be a bit of a rarity- I MUST say, that, HANDS DOWN, the Integrity, Alacrity and Speed involved in making me happy re: my purchase was OUTSTANDING! Zoom Books has won a FOREVER CUSTOMER- I shall endeavor, whenever I can, to purchase from THEM- YOU SHOULD TOO! A+++ & BEYOND!

The book was just as described, in excellent condition. The shipping was delayed by about a week past the original expectation window and nothing was communicated. I was not in a hurry, so it wasn’t a big deal, but if I had needed it by the dates advertised, it would have been an issue. Overall, I’m pleased with the purchase and would order from this seller again if the purchase isn’t time-sensitive.
