Gibraltar bass Drum Anchor
This is real old school bass drum anchor. The first time I saw one similar to this was on Ringo's Ludwig kit on the Ed Sullivan show. I've never investigated bass drum anchors of any design because most places have a rug or some sort that keeps the bass drum from drifting .. well mostly. Solid as a rock
I bought this bass drum anchor primarily to help take some of the strain off of my vintage bass drum legs. You know, those spindly little legs - too wide spread and insubstantial to do anything but keep the drum from rolling over? I just wanted to sturdy-up the bass drum. This thing works great! Put it on, adjusted the legs to stabilize the drum and I can't believe how solid this old kick drum feels. If you have a vintage bass drum that shimmies, shakes, wobbles and creeps - you need this! The Ringo look is a bonus. My only complaint is that the unit should be padded at all points where it meets the hoop. I put some velcro (soft side) on to prevent it from marring up the inlay. Unless you like jacking up the front of your bass drum which this does don't buy it. Doing this puts stress on the batter hoop and the angle to attach your pedal.
