    Although it is plastic...

    The unit is made up of high impact plastic. It replaced a broken General Lock that was OEM metal however contained an internal broken deadbolt that was less than a year old. This unit dropped right in, adjustment was minimal and boom! Door latches great.... better than before. Open/Close with zero effort.
