From the reviews: BULLETIN OF MATHEMATICS BOOKS "This book should have wide appeal, from those who are just getting into the area and wish to learn mathematical foundations and applications to those who are already experienced and wish to have a reference that provides a mathematically rigorous coverage of the state of the art...The coverage is thorough but not overwhelming, perhaps because the chapters are divided into lessons, allowing the reader a chance to pause and think. The authors work clearly to impart an understanding of the theory and applications, and not just offer an encyclopedic tome.", From the reviews: BULLETIN OF MATHEMATICS BOOKS "This book should have wide appeal, from those who are just getting into the area and wish to learn mathematical foundations and applications to those who are already experienced and wish to have a reference that provides a mathematically rigorous coverage of the state of the art…The coverage is thorough but not overwhelming, perhaps because the chapters are divided into lessons, allowing the reader a chance to pause and think. Synopsis
This book combines material from two sources: Analyse de Fourier et ap plications: Filtrage, Calcul numerique, Ondelettes by Claude Gasquet and Patrick Witomski (Masson, Paris, second printing, 1995) and Analyse de Fourier et applications: Exercices corriges by Robert Delmasso and Patrick Witomski (Masson, Paris, 1996). The translation of the first book forms the core of this Springer edition; to this have been added ail of the exercises from the second book. The exercises appear at the end of the lessons to which they apply. The solutions to the exercises were not includcd bccause of space constraints. Whcn Springer offered me the opportunity to translate the book by Gas quet and Witomski, I readily acccpted bccause I liked both the book's content and its style. I particularly liked the structure in 42 lessons and 12 chapters, and I agree with the authors that each lesson is a "chew able piece," which can be assimilated relatively easily. Believing that the structure is important, I have maintained as much as possible the "look and feel" of the original French book, including the page format and numbering system. I believe that this page structure facilitates study, understanding, and assimilation., Scientists and engineers are confronted by the necessity of using classical mathematics such as Fourier transforms and convolution in all areas of modeling. This book focuses on Fourier analysis, filters, and signal analysis with two objectives: providing a rigorous exploration of the important applications of analysis leading to numerical calculations, and conveying a theory in which the well-known formulae find their justification., The object of this book is two-fold -- on the one hand it conveys to mathematical readers a rigorous presentation and exploration of the important applications of analysis leading to numerical calculations. On the other hand, it presents physics readers with a body of theory in which the well-known formulae find their justification. The basic study of fundamental notions, such as Lebesgue integration and theory of distribution, allow the establishment of the following areas: Fourier analysis and convolution Filters and signal analysis time-frequency analysis (gabor transforms and wavelets). The whole is rounded off with a large number of exercises as well as selected worked-out solutions.

Zoom books shipped in a plastic bag, but doubled the bag. I was relieved to see the interior bag, as the exterior bag was rubbed, stretched, had multiple holes. Books arrived okay, but I wish all the book sellers would offer a buyer the option of paying more for cardboard to protect the books, especially the corners. Many used books are vintage, and it's a shame to dent their corners in shipping. Books were as listed and a good value, and correct items sent. GOOD SELLER.
