Bought this MSI RX5700XT a little while ago now. These cards aren't bad but their thermal pads and paste from the factory are very poor. I was glad they weren't replaced yet though so i could do it myself. Took a little bit of work but now temps are great and performing well under load. As you can see in the picture the memory modules are oily from the pads and the module at the top right is bone dry. It had no pad FROM THE FACTORY. With that being said, you get what you pay for and if you are a mooch like me and wanna save some money, this is how you do it. Still 5 stars because I like saving money and card performs well now. If you are scared of a screwdriver then just pay more for a card with a better cooler.

Out of the box it failed the OCCT 3D & VRAM benchmarks, triggering Windows reboots. Disassembly revealed: 1 VRAM module thermal pad completely missing, 2 thermal pads very tiny, & the others poorly positioned. The plastic backplate is a heat trap that will increase thermal wear & tear & reduce performance. The thermal design is not good & QC failed to catch the missing thermal pad.

PROS: Amazing value Amazing performance (I'm on 1080p) Keeps pretty cool CONS: Loud stock fan curve (with undervolt and adjustments you can minimize this) Upgraded from a gtx 960 and this card has been great so far. For the price of $330 I paid for a refurbished unit it's an absolute steal. I was worried the drivers would kill my computer but I had one crash when first installing it and since then everything has been fine. (using 20.2.2 version of drivers which is currently their recommended version) Would definitely recommend if you can pick one up for around the same price to do so.

Card performs well with up to date drivers but runs hotter than many other after market 5700 boards, especially memory temps (80-90C under load) Adjust fan speeds manually (in Radeon software) and you can get it down to healthy temperatures.

Being one of the cheaper 5700XT offerings out there, this card does have terrible thermals from the factory. Out of the box, memory temps were pushing 104° C. I replaced the thermal pads and paste with Thermal Grizzly and now temps stay at about 88° under full load from mining. All in all a good budget card if you're willing to buy the parts and put in the work.
