* Minimal Spoilers* Revered French Director Robert Bresson's last classic Black & White movie, "Mouchette" is cleverly woven to include the elements of a troubled peasant girl's misfortune. Mouchette sees how the adult worl works, and has her own world to deal with: a dying, young mother, and infant, and school. Mouchette feels the isolation in school, sees the other girls grow and get boyfriends, makeup, and Mouchette is never included. Mouchette protests in the ways she can by her attitudes and behaviours. The movie opens with the sick mother in church, "What will they do without me?" seems to be the recurring theme of this film. Mr. Bresson's vision has Cinema as a total art package, not postcard material. For this, any cinema hobbyist can appreciate Mr. Bresson's accomplishments. He was well respected by his peers, and Mouchette is a product that Cinema fans can see why he earned his peers' respect.Read full review
An excellent film and a wonderful addition to my collection of French films.
