This set contains the high point of the lengthy career of Coleman Hawkins, in my opinion. I love everything Hawkins did, right up to his very last recording, Sirius, in the 60’s, which is generally panned by critics, but what is so appealing to me about these recordings is what seems to be an obvious overall joyfulness about them. Also, the sound quality is surprisingly good. The other players are also a virtual Who’s Who of the period. Overall, a wonderful find at a great price.
