Tom Hanks is Chuck Noland, a man in a hurry. His job for Federal Express has him traveling the world on a moment's notice, exhorting the company's employees to speed things up--"never turn your back on the clock." When he's suddenly called away for business on Christmas night, his tolerant longtime girlfriend Kelly (Helen Hunt) drives him to the airport. They have their Christmas in the car--and Chuck plunks an engagement ring into her lap right before he gets on the plane, telling her, "I'll be right back." But an unexpected storm cuts the plane's crew off from radio contact and blows them off course. Chuck is the sole survivor of the resulting crash, and washes up on a completely deserted island. Stranded there, he must give up everything that he once took for granted and learn how to survive all alone in the wilderness. From director Robert Zemeckis, CAST AWAY is a story of adventure and discovery surrounding one man's will to stay alive.

    Enjoyable movie.

    Made before the movie industry totally fell apart, this film was pretty good. It was a very commercial film with some shameless product advertisements, but the revamp of “stranded on a deserted island” was well done.

    A movie that will entertain everyone!

    Have you ever tried to pick a movie to watch when no one can agree on what sounds good? Try Cast Away! The whole family can watch it but it is not a kid's movie. It has action, drama and romance and humour. It is suspenseful and entertaining. Hanks is at the top of his game as a Fed-Ex team leader who gets stranded on a deserted island after the a Fed-Ex jet crashes into the ocean. He is forced to come to grips with life and death situations in an amazing tale of survival. The end has a great irony that I can't tell or I would spoil the end. Tell the people who say "I've seen it" that they will enjoy watching it again. Don't forget the popcorn.

    This is a great movie.. somewhat a tear jerker!!!

    This movie struck me as a two dimensional love story. It's a man in love with perfection and a women..... who later learns to love himself when he finds himself alone!!!! I liked this movie in it's entirety, there's nothing I could list as something that was an unlike;) I would say that this movie is more appealing for the more mature audience, but would be suitable for younger viewers as well.

    A great story with a bad ending

    In Cast Away Tom Hanks plays an incredible role, for more than an hour he's the only person you see stranded on an island all by himself. It's a great story about survival as only an actor as great as Tom Hanks could pull off. However, when he hits the big wave and at last makes it off the island, you should just turn it off and call that the ending....

    This is one of Tom Hanks best films yet! I certainly enjoyed it. Tom Hanks plays a play called Chuck Noland who works for Federal Express, who's always on the go at a moment's notice. He's called away for business on Christmas night and his girlfriend and he have Christmas in their car. When he leaves the car the last thing he says to her is that he'll be right back. Well that doesn't happen. The plane ends up in an unexpected storm, they lose radio contact, they go off course and it crashes. Chuck is the sole survivor of the crash, and washes ashore of a deserted island. While stranded there, he must learn how to survive in the wilderness by himself. A definite must see.
