About this product

Product Information

Pitch your favorite mobile suit against other Gundams and battle it out with other pilots in Gundam: Battle Assault 2, one of several Gundam games made for PlayStation. With a wide range of mobile suits and characters available from the Gundam metaverse, you’ll have the chance to pilot a variety of Gundams, including ones out of Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, and the Gundam Wing TV series. Gundam: Battle Assault 2 is a sequel for the original Gundam: Battle Assault. Developed in conjunction by Bandai and Natsume and published by Bandai, the game was released in 2002 and introduced several new features, along with a new roster of fighters. The sequel builds on the original gameplay mechanics from Gundam: Battle Assault and delivers better visuals, story modes, and moves for an experience that is improved overall. In Gundam: Battle Assault 2’s Street Mode, you play as one of eight characters, each with their own storylines based loosely on the events of the One Year War, the Endless Waltz OVA, and the 13th Gundam Fight. This arcade-style story mode comes with voiced cutscenes, giving the game a more narrative feel. Your primary objective is still to battle other Gundams, though, duking it out with other mobile suit pilots in an all-out battle to be the best. The controls are fairly easy to understand with single-button attacks being used alongside special moves. Spacing and timing is remarkably important in both Gundam: Battle Assault games. Because of the closed confines of the arena, you’ll need to make use of what space you have to avoid damage and to maximize your own attacks, which means paying attention to where your opponent in all of your games. Each of the Gundams is equipped with its own range of special attacks, and if used correctly, they can deal devastating amounts of damage to the enemy. The wide range of mobile suits available in the Gundam: Battle Assault games means that all Gundam fans can get into them, regardless of their skill level or familiarity with fighting games in general. Certain Gundams require more patience and time to figure out, but several mobile suits, such as the RX-78-2 Gundam, combine easier movesets and more flexibility in order to be friendlier for beginners. Whether you’re playing as Burning Gundam as you search for your brother or as Gundam Wing out to destroy Treize Khushrenada, you’ll find plenty of action waiting for you in the star-filled arenas of Gundam: Battle Assault 2. Fans of the various Gundam series or other Gundam games will likely find several of their favorite mobile suits in the lineup. These include Deathscythe H, Epyon, and Tallgeese III from Gundam Wing, Zeta Gundam from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Zaku II from Mobile Suit Gundam, and Maxter from Mobile Fighter G Gundam, among many others.

    G-Wiz, Gundams Attack!

This has to be the most complicated fighting game experience I’ve ever had, other than maybe Dissidia. I like that there are limited pilots, but they are some of my favorites, including Deathscythe. Perhaps it’s my older age, but I definitely get carpal tunnel issues with this game. It’s actually got good graphics, in my opinion, compared to Primal Rage and Mortal Kombat Trilogy. I just wish the fighting system was less complicated, so it could feel more effortless. However, I appreciate all games for their own merit. If you’re a fan of the G-Gundam or Gundam Wing series, this is definitely worth playing.

  • Short, but fun to play and re-play

Most fighting games are either so hopelessly complex or exercises in button-mashing that they'll only be enjoyable to a select few. Gundam Battle Assault 2 has the advantage of being able to be played either way. The command inputs are simple, which leads to spamming of some moves, but skilled players can find many different ways to use them too. The major high point is the HUGE selection and variety of mobile suits. They range from the laughable (Ball Gundam) to the ridiculously overpowered (Dark Gundam). No matter which Gundam series you enjoy, you'll find your favorite suits ready to beat the Gundanium out of each other. Street Mode is kind of slim (only eight of the 24 mobile suits have their own storyline, but they're the main characters of their series so it makes sense). The cpu ...

  • A very fine 2D fighter, and with GUNDAMS!!!

This game introduces the 2nd installment for the Battle Assault series of Gundam, except the only difference from the previous games are additional mobile suits and levels. Gundam Battle Assault 2 offers plenty of fun to those that love 2D fighting and this game seems very similar to the Street Fighter series, just with Mobile Suits. The only element that is missed here is that they should have had a more plots and story for each character, because once you beat the game, the credits just roll - leaving you with just that or new mobile suits. The mobile suits available here are those that appeared in these series: Mobile Suit Gundam, Char's Counterattack, Gundam 0080, Gundam 0083, and Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. So if you like 2D fighting, get this game before it becomes extremely ...

  • If you love Gundam this is a great starter game.

Beyond happy with this game, it's a pretty stadard fighting game, but the fact that I can fight with some of my favorite gundams is what makes it great.
