  • Live at Leeds - The Who (remaster 1995) review

Live at Leeds remains, to this day, one of the greatest "live" concert albums. When it was issued on CD, I immediately purchased it. You see I already own Live at Leeds. Why did I purchase this one? Well, when Live at Leeds was issued in 1970, it only had 6 songs from the concert. This version has 14 songs from the concert, so it was a no brainer for me or anyone aware of this great live concert performed by the Who. You don't have to be a Who fan to appreciate the powerful performance displayed on this CD. Sit down for an hour and listen to it and you will be totally involved, feeling like you are at the concert. Transcending time, magical and poignant after 37 years!!

  • The WHO live at LEEDS see me feel me touch me

Anyone who claims to be a rocker must have this album. it says on the label "meant to play as loud as you can stand it" or something to that effect. i was in the us army in 1969 when i first heard this album and have loved it ever since. crank it up and lose your mind or as they used to say "take a trip and never leave the farm". if you make your neighbors unhappy then 1)invite them to do better 2) tell them to chill & get a life or 3) move to the sticks like i have. if half of the songs on this album don't bring out some sort of uncontrolled emotion then you are soulless and should sit in the corner for the next 30 years or more. buy it & take a major hit on your soul. jj

  • The Who Live at Leeds

There are very few live performances of The Who available, and this is probably the definitive one. I actually think it was done too early in their career, and wonder what one done after 'Who's Next' and 'Quadrophenia' would be like. The rendition of 'My Generation' probably runs on too long, and doesn't really sound like the studio version after the first 3 minutes, but I like some of the rifts. They have a heavy metal quality to them. The best feature is the drums, and drum solos. Kieth Moon is at his finest on this live album. My favorite track is 'Magic Bus'; this version of the song is better than the studio original.

  • The Who at Their Best

The Who at the peak of their performing powers and just before "Who's Next" took them to the "Superstar" level. Gritty and solid rock and roll. All the better for the additional tunes added to the cd from the original release. Well recorded for the era, it brings out all the reasons why the Who are darn near as popular now as they were nearly 40 years ago when this was new. Like a well-loved childhood Christmas gift that you get to open over and over.

  • The Absolute Maximum of R&B

If you think you know The Who and never have listened to Live At Leeds, prepare yourself for one of the greatest live CD of all time. With Pete ripping his guitar to pieces, Keith bashing his drums into the stage, Roger wailing at the top of his lungs, and John thundering away on his bass, Live at Leeds is truly an experience to listen to! If you have any doubt about The Who being the greatest live band of all time, this CD will destroy them all! So turn up your volume to the maximum and behold one of the most talented and explosive groups to ever hit the stage!
