Great for the price
I've used this for cooking in the oven (its original design purpose) and love the ease and convenience of knowing exactly when to take the roast out. However, per someones else's recommendation, I also used it for making maple syrup where accuracy (and precision) are critical. Here it falls short. Sometimes the temperature would read 215 oF when in actuality it was 217 degrees instead - which makes a big difference in candy and syrup making. Many Functions for a thermometer
Love this digital thermometer. It has a long probe and connecting wire, so you can leave the probe in the meat while it is in the oven. You can set an "alarm" to beep when the meat reaches a pre-determined temperature. This unit also has a timer. I bought this to replace the exact same model, which broke when it was dropped. I've had it for about 3 years and it was trouble free.

Great product and great value
This is the third one I have had. I love it. The first one was dropped in boiling maple syrup and the second one I dropped and it hit really hard on the floor. I use the meat probe to make peanut brittle and hard candies. They are a great product. I use mine seveal times a day.

Digi thermo seems to be well made. I like the feature where the readings stay on until turned off. I wish the cable is made of material that will withstand temp. to 450 or even 500 F, right now I can't stick the cable inside the oven.
