Product Information

Longfellow Deeds (Adam Sandler) is content to run his pizzeria in the cozy New Hampshire hamlet of Mandrake Falls. His only further desire is to someday see one of his corny rhymes printed in a greeting card. Deeds is awarded much more when he inherits the $40 billion empire of a media tycoon, a distant relative. He is lured to New York City by unscrupulous partners of the deceased where he is preyed upon by greedy stockholders. He also makes ample fodder for tabloid journalists, notably reporter Babe Bennett (Winona Ryder) who poses as a school nurse from Iowa to win Deed's heart and expose him as an idiot to her viewership. Against her will and her own sleazy principles, Babe falls for the charming naivety of Deeds, whose fortune is in jeopardy.Adam Sandler's man-child persona stands in for Gary Cooper in this remake of the 1936 MR. DEEDS GOES TO TOWN. Sandler and longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy have molded the Frank Capra romantic comedy into a perfect vehicle for its star and a love letter to New York City. Jared Harris as a tabloid TV host and John Turturro as an omnipresent Spanish butler shine in supporting roles.

    Very good, very funny

    Mr. Deeds This is a great comedy that everybody will enjoy, even if you're not a huge fan of the lead actor! A great movie with a hilarious plot and a great cast. Mr. Deeds is one of my favorite Adam Sandler films. It features great on-screen chemistry between Sandler and Ryder and has a great supporting cast. This is one of those films that will have you laughing you buns off. Final Verdict: 4/5 Rent or Buy?: If you love comedies this is a must buy

    Great Family Movie

    A guy named Deeds (Sandler), from the small town of Mandrake Falls, NH inherits $40 billion dollars and a controlling interest in a massive media corporation from his deceased uncle. He moves to New York and begins injecting his small town values into the company and the city. Meanwhile, a New York tabloid TV reporter, Babe (Ryder), is sent undercover as a small-town girl to do an expose but her true feelings come out which is the best story of them all. Updated version of the classic Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) starring Gary Cooper and directed by Frank Capra.     Mr. Deeds was one of the most surprising films of 2002 for me - Adam Sandler plays Longfellow Deeds, a small-town pizza shop owner who stumbles across a fortune. The movie then follows Longfellow deeds and his romance with Pam Dawson (Winona Ryder) - and their ups and downs. Mr. Deeds is purely entertaining - no great acting, but very funny humor that mixes Adam Sandler's typical sarcasm with some slapstick jokes. Mr. Deeds Cast: Adam Sandler ....
