Awesome product! Unbeatable stitch quality! Many features and accessories!
The Pfaff 4874 has been referred to as the "Queen" of sergers. Long live this queen of superior stitching! Positives: The 4874 is a ten spool machine with more decorative coverlock stitching options than any other serger. Needles are easy to change. Pushing buttons allows a user to increase or decrease tensions and manually alter stitch length and width settings and differentials for evenly formed stitches. Many additional accessories are available to expand a user's capabilities...less likely that new techniques will require another machine purchase. The handy LCD screen displays the machine set up sequence for each stitching pattern. The machine can store up to two additional manually altered stitch setting preferences per each stitch pattern. Switching form ... The Pfaff 4874 has been referred to as the "Queen" of sergers. Long live this queen of superior stitching! Switching form overlock to cover-stitch is done in just a few steps. Negatives: The 4874 cannot store and display information about which threads and fabrics were used for a user saved setting. However, stitched and labeled samples could be taped into a notebook for future reference. This machine offers a lot of options. Some options require additional accessories that weren't included in the purchase package. Also, this machine is heavy, so a rolling carrying case might be worth purchasing if it is taken to any classes. Automatic threading was very tempting, but I really wanted to be sure I could use a variety of textured threads. The 4874's threading diagrams are not difficult to follow. Besides, even textured thread ends can be tied together and pulled along the threading path for easy thread changes. Threading order is important on a Pfaff. Pfaff machines also require that the presser foot be in a raised raised while threading. The manual's threading directions must be exactly followed to get well formed stitches. In a hands-on stitch out comparison between four major top of the line serger models, Pfaff's 4874 stitched superior to each of the other tested brands. The difference of one brand's stitch quality was less obvious than the other two, but none of the other brands stitched as well as the Pfaff. The 4874 clearly formed the best quality stitches with edge finishes that could be compared to those seen on luxury (more pricey)garments. The other three brands stitched similar to what I've seen on many mid to lower priced, ready to wear garments. Every one of the major brands stitched reasonably well, but the 4874's superior stitch quality blew me away! The 4874 was also was one of the easiest to convert to a cover-stitch.

1. I do not speak english, so excuse me. 2. I´m not expert using this kind of machines, so i must to say it is extraordinary easy to use, you may consider any aspect: Thread, convert serger to coverstitch, 3 to 2 thread, decorative stitches, etc, all is really easy. Be quiet, go slowly to lear, machine has a logic, can understand it, learns it and later will be automatic handling. 3. I did read the review from betsy2win before buy mine and i´ve made all as she write, it is important do it so. Because that review is clear and precise i do not need write same thing. 4 As i live in Colombia, the only way i have to buy accesories is in the web and is really really hard to find it. An i think are expensives, this is the cons to me. 5. This machine is now discontinued... I ... 1. I do not speak english, so excuse me. 2.
