    This Movie's Poor Taping Quality Affects My Review

    William Holden's and Martha Scott's teenage romance and marriage in the early 1900s are the subject of "Our Town." We see them as next door neighbors hanging out the window to work math problems, to having strawberry phosphates in the local drug store, to their wedding, and finally to their bearing children. It is a chick flick from the past and rightly has a happy ending with a stumble at the end. But we are happy for them because they are so nice and cute. The movie also gives us an insight to what life was like living in a small town in the early 1900s. This movie was nominated for Best Picture of 1940. Martha Scott was also nominated for Best Actress. Thomas Mitchell (Scarlett's father in GWTW) also plays the doctor father of William Holden. Beuhlah Bondi and Fay Bainter play ...

    Our Town -- great movie, poor quality copy

    This is one of my all time favorite movies and it has an Aaron Copland music score to boot. The only problem is that the reproduction quality is very poor. I have a cheat VHS tape of this movie and I thought the DVD would overcome the poor quality of the reproduction but it didn't; the quality is just as bad. I wish there was a good copy of the movie available because it is such a good movie. Oh, well, I'll just have to enjoy what I have.
