If priced right, the best value for the buck but not a high-end player tho.
I have to preface my review with a remark about why I originally bought this GPX media player. It was an amazing buy and was too-good to resist. I was the only bidder on it and I got it for the starting price. Battery life is about an hour and a half when playing videos. That explains the 3-star rating I gave the battery. When I charge it I usually only charge it for an hour to make certain that I don't overcharge the internal battery. (over-charging can ruin the battery and the unit) It works out just fine for me so-far. Features aren't bad but aren't impressive either. I felt that the instructions that came with it were not complete and if you go to the GPX website and look up this model you will find a download link for the user's manual which I believe will confirm what I am saying in ... It's design is fairly standard in most aspects. The push-button markings for the controls are rather under-stated and require a close examination to see them at all, especially in a less than bright environment. As for the quality of the display, that actually DID impress me somewhat. The display has 3 settings ranging from dim to bright and the definition of the video display is quite good. There are some internal settings to control the equalizer and the repeat functions and a couple of others that I haven't had need to fiddle with yet. The controls on the face of the unit work alright but as I said before, they are a bit hard to find in normal room light levels. The unit is compact and slim so it fits well in a shirt pocket. Running the unit while playing only mp3s you should be able to get a few hours of use before needing to recharge the unit. It comes with conversion software and it seems to work very well with mp4 files. The headphones plug into the bottom of the unit and the plug does NOT seat flush when inserted. This could be problematic for anyone with Obsessive-compulsive-disorder, it doesn't look right and one's natural inclination is to attempt to continue to push it into the jack to MAKE it seat flush with the unit. Don't do that. Bad things will likely result. I have had to work at it myself. It comes with a usb plug and it fits snugly and serves it's purpose well. The internal storage for media is only about 2GB but that isn't really problematic since you generally have to recharge it after watching just one or two movies. For mp3 files it is plenty good enough I think. (most mp3 files are under 6 megabytes anyways so you can get many of them in there) The conversion software converts video files to .MTV files. Not exactly the most common file extension you will find but quality is good and the software is pretty straight-forward to use. Despite the average rating levels I gave this media player I must add that I really don't have any regrets about buying this media player. I would, at the price I paid for it, buy it again! How could I go wrong paying 1/7th of it's retail price? You may find longer battery life in another device, but you will need to pay extra for that. You can find players with displays larger than 1.5", but again you will pay more for that. You can find media players that play more file formats and again I tell you that you will likely pay more for that as well. In summation: If you can get one at half the going rate of it's market companions of similar specifications, then this unit is a great choice for the value-oriented buyer. If your criteria is for a high-end player, pony-up and look elsewhere.

You Get What You Pay For
Poor Menu System, Takes Forever To Load Songs Into. I Would Advise To Pay A Little Extra For A Better Player. Cheap Is Not Always The Best Way.
