About this product

Product Information

Watch out for slime and avoid crossing the streams in this surprise continuation of Sony Pictures' Ghostbusters franchise. Written by stars Harold Ramis and Dan Ackroyd, who scripted both blockbuster films, Ghostbusters: The Video Game features a storyline set two years after the events depicted in Ghostbusters 2. Hailed by New York City residents as heroes, the Ghostbusters are hoping to turn their thriving business into a franchise, much to the chagrin of ex-EPA agent Walter Peck. After the Ghostbusters hire a new crewmember, the city is overwhelmed with a surge of paranormal activity. There's something even stranger in the neighborhood, and you're getting the call.

Since the game is all about hunting down and capturing ghosts, the perspective is set behind your character's shoulder to offer a clear view of the rooms and spectral anomalies ahead. The third-person viewpoint also displays one of the most important tools you'll have in confronting the ghosts: the Proton Pack. You must monitor the Proton Pack's power consumption to avoid overheating the device, and the backpack's flashing display also indicates health and weapon charge. Your character will be in constant radio communication with other members of the Ghostbusters team, including Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore, each voiced by the movie's original actors.

Each 3D area features a number of ghosts to bag and tag using a mix of familiar devices (ghost traps, ecto goggles, and PKE meters) and new technology (goo-slinging slime guns and freezing electron beams). As in the film series, apparitions can attack, disappear through walls, and will struggle when faced with the proton beam's harnessing power. Using the second analog stick, players can slam wrangled ghosts into environmental objects to subdue them, while nearby computer-controlled teammates assist in the capture process. Money earned from trapping the ectoplasmic enemies enables the purchase of various equipment upgrades and enhancements. A variety of collectibles can also be found while exploring the haunted buildings, unlocking bonus content in the form of artwork, interviews, and more.

      Very cool!

As a huge Ghostbusters fan who had to pass this generation of gaming due to financial issues, I’m glad that I can finally experience this game. The graphics are great for their generation, the music is exactly like it is in the movies, and all four original Ghostbusters return to voice their characters. In fairness, it’s basically just fan service, but it’s satisfying. You gain upgrades to your pack, you get a bit more background into the past movies, and it’s just cool to run around and bust ghosts! I’d recommend it to people who love Ghostbusters.

    • Ghostbusters the video game

Ghostbusters the video game was released in 2009 by terminal reality in Atari the writing of the game was done entirely by Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd who were the writers of the first and second movie the game itself feels like the third movie which we could be considered the third movie has great gameplay and also has a great story to go along with it well yes there are many problems with it such as the multiplayer not being online anymore and with some of the dialogue not syncing up with the voice acting and it not being a free roaming game will be sides of the promise it’s a fabulous game not only because it offers versatile weapons for the player to use in a different levels such as the proton stream the shock blast and the slime blower and also the CPS overall these new additions ...

    • Great game for Any Ghost heads AKA GB Fans:)

The Game is much better than the PS2 system based game, even Graphics. and the constant freezing of the game on ps2 I Know I have the game for both systems. The PS2 game is good when you can be able to play threw the whole game:( But there must have been a problem with the way Inferno Engines made the game with Atari AKA BUGS or GLITCH (S) with the software, so Far I have Played the PS3 System based game without any problems, I'm Not encouraging any Ghost head or GB Fan not to buy the PS2 based system game but just warning you all in advance. Because I have my copy as a collectable Item. I bought my at Game Stop on Prepaid before the game was released got a cool T-shirt with it as a gift:)

    • Great classic game

This game is a must own for any Ghostbusters fans. It is fun and entertaining to play. A bit challenging at times but not to hard. It features the whole original cast and Slimer. It is rare and a tiny bit pricey but well worth it.

    • As Ghostbusters fans, no reason should be disappointed!

If you dug the movies, there's no reason that you should be disappointed with Ghostbusters: The Video Game. There are some moments that cause the game to stumble, but you're getting a new tale in the Ghostbusters canon, fun gameplay, a whole bunch of stuff to destroy, and some cool ghosts to scan. I felt that the game's ending was a bit flat and the romantic interest was forced, but Ghostbusters is a hell of a ride. 7.5 Presentation The game plays like the third movie in the way it opens and is presented to fans, but some scenes need work. There are moments that don't fit here and there, but overall, it's sweet. 7.5 Graphics The proton streams look great, the ghosts are detailed, and the CG cutscenes rock; but the in-game cutscenes are rough, there's screen-tearing and some aliasing ...
