About this product

Product Information

Bestselling master of suspense Jeffrey Deaver is back with a brand-new Lincoln Rhyme thriller. To save the life of a young girl who's being stalked by a ruthless hit man. Lincoln and his protege, Amelia Sachs, are called upon to do the impossible: solve a truly "cold case" -- one that's 140 years old."The Twelfth Card" is a two-day cat-and-mouse chase through the streets of uptown Manhattan as quadriplegic detective Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs try to outguess Thompson Boyd a man whose past has turned him into a killing machine as unfeeling and cunning as a wolf. Boyd is after Geneva Settle, a high school girl from Harlem, and it's up to Lincoln and Amelia to figure out why.The motive may have to do with a term paper that Geneva is writing about her ancestor, Charles Singleton, a former slave. Charles was active in the early civil rights movement, but was arrested for theft and disgraced. Lincoln and Amelia work frantically to figure out what actually happened on that hot July night in 1868 when Charles was arrested.Deaver's inimitable plotting keeps this story racing at a lightening-fast clip. With breathtaking twists and multiple surprises, this is Deaver's most compelling Lincoln Rhyme audiobook to date.

  • Do you like to get twisted? Read on

It seems like ages since loyal readers said goodbye to Rhyme and Sachs in "The Vanished Man," which I read several times to keep myself company until Deaver's newest in the series would arrive--and here it is! While maybe not as intense as some of his others in the series, "The Twelfth Card" is nevertheless a fun, forensic ride as we join Rhyme et al for two days of solving a potentially unsolveable crime. In this case, it is truly puzzling: Somebody is trying to murder a teenaged student in Harlem, and it's no street murder. The most sophisticated hired guns are after thin, bookish Geneva Settle, but why? Rhyme gets involved after a failed attempt on Geneva's life results in the murder of the librarian in the library where Geneva was studying. And the terrifying attempt on her own life ...

  • TICK TOCK; a fascinating Lincoln Rhyme mystery.

You won’t want to put down the book; in my case I had to keep listening to the audiobook through the night! The plot will keep you guessing to the very end!!

  • Just like Jeffery Deaver

I love the way Jeffery Deaver writes, he puts so many twists that you do not know until the very last minute what happens. Also I cannot get enough of the Lincoln Ryme series. Plus you cannot beat the prices on e-bay. You could not even go to half price shops and get some of these audio books.

  • The Twelfth Card

It was a good story, especially since we were traveling in the southern states at the time we were listening.
