  • Oil Pressure Switch to Disable Electric Fuel Pump

    This switch is probably the best choice if you are adding an electric fuel pump to an older vehicle and want a safety cut-off for when the engine stops. Your dash lamp wires to the center terminal, as in your old 1-terminal switch, grounding when <5 psig to light the bulb. The outer 2 terminals are isolated from the center one and ground. They connect when >5 psig to enable the fuel pump (preferably thru a relay). Most GM of the 1970's used a different switch - Standard Motor Products PS-64. In that, the "P" (pump) terminal is the common of a SPDT swtich, which connects to "S" (starter) when <5 psig and to "I" (ignition) when >5 psig to enable the fuel pump when both cranking and running w/ oil pressure. None connect to ground. You can still get the dash lamp to work by also ...
