The cartridge had some unexpected internal dirt but this was minimal. The price was fair given that the save battery was dead. The label was really nice and the cartridge itself in nice shape. The game plays perfectly.

It's good for a simple playthrough for nostalgia but the game clock feature only runs while in game so night and day cycles in game take for ever

In Japan, Pokemon Crystal was released as the main reason to pick up a Mobile Adapter, the interface between the Game Boy Color/Advance and a Japanese cell-phone. In Crystal, kids can dial up to Nintendo's game server and trade/battle Pokemon with other users in remote locations, as well as attend set events by dialing in at a specific time. The updated title's existence was justified because it incorporated these new elements on top of a slightly updated quest and engine. To keep the Pokemon property going on the Game Boy Color, Nintendo has released Pokemon Crystal to US gamers, but without the element that Nintendo capitalized on in Japan. It's the last hurrah for the engine we've known and loved for almost three years in the US, and more than five years since its inception overseas. The final (hopefully) Game Boy Color edition is definitely the version to get if you aren't already one of the upteenth billion owners of Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue, Pokemon Yellow, Pokemon Gold, or Pokemon Silver, with Crystal's slight updates to the design and graphics. But there's not much in this edition that makes it a "must buy" for folks who already own a copy or two of the previous editions. I think it's time to say "enough's enough." Granted, there are very few games on the Game Boy Color as good as Nintendo's classic RPG, but it's time to pick up and move on. No, this isn't a knock on the Pokemon license, since the game is still a great one on the handheld. It's just that the mentality that the same game engine can be milked over and over and over, and we've been playing this game for almost three years now in English...and more than five years internationally. We're all ready for the Advance version, guys. And we're sure you are too.Read full review
After working up some household chore credits, my son wanted this game and I searched eBay and vid on one I thought was reasonable, both from a price and shipping standpoint. After the game arrived, it played OK, but my son noticed that it wouldn't save where he was in the game after powering the game off. I looked again at the eBay searches and noticed that some of the postings said "still saves" or something along those lines. The one I bed on had no such language. After some google searching I found this game (and many others I guess) have small "button" style batteries in them to save small data like where they were in the game after power off. As this is a very old game (early 2000's), our battery must have been shot. It is possible to replace the battery, but it is not for the faint of heart. The batteries can be picked up at any CVS, Walmart, Radio Shack, etc. But installing the new battery takes some work, especially soldering skills. There is no "battery holder" per se; one must unsolder the batter clips from the printed circuit board, then unsolder the clips from the dead battery and solder them again onto the new battery. Then you solder the new battery & clips onto the circuit. Again, not for the faint of heart. I work with electronics and have soldering irons with small tips for use on small printed circuit boards. So the right tools and skills made it work and my son's game works as it should, i.e. saves data. Others might be out of luck.Read full review
This is a nice replica of the original game. No issues so far in the early gameplay. The game did freeze twice on me though out of nowhere - so common saves are needed. The other issue I had (not a big deal) is the last save file with the number of Pokemon caught has transferred to my file (but not the actual pokemon).

This just might be my new fav gbc game! It's basicly red/blue using the crystal engine. The custom player sprites are really well done and the game is very fun and adds a new twist to a classic and timeless game. The clock doesn't work and there are a few sound glitches, but that's normal for custom games, so it's really not a problem at all. Overall a great game and a good value. Update! After playing through it, (7 hours later) it does turn into Pokemon crystal after the s.s Anne, super good game!

Game works great! I get to relive my childhood again thanks to it. Ive been playing this game for the past month and Im still addicted to it. I really wish Nintendo would re-realise these games on the nintedo switch but unfortunately they are way behind when it comes to importing their classic video games so for now buying physical cartridges are the only way to play it anymore besides emulation or having it downloaded on a 3DS. Thank you! Very fast Seller, Highly reccomended! I c

The second generation games (Gold silver and Crystal) have always been my favorite in the series just because of the sheer amount of content and effort it takes to complete it. Crystal only upgrades on its previous incarnations. One thing worth noting and I feel this is the case with a lot of Pokemon games is that it is a bit slow paced especially when you are just getting 1 random encounter after another. The graphics while decent for its time, pale in comparison to the GBA versions and are shameful when compared to the DS pokemon games. I'd recommend Pokemon Crystal to any pokemon player out there who doesn't have the funds for Heartgold or Soulsilver.
Pokemon Crystal Version. Oh, the wondrous Crystal version. I am an avid Pokemon player and this old game is still my favorite. Taking place in the Johto region, it lets me play the Johto AND the Kanto region from Red/Blue/Yellow. It's like two games in one! And it offers many new effects and places that Gold/Silver didn't have to offer. However, the save battery does tend to die after a few years. But it's an easy replacement! I love Pokemon. Especially Crystal.
game works, its 1 of my fav games ever and playing a fully different version is a breath of fresh air! only issue i had was the save battery being dead, but it was a easy fix.
