Great Value for Money!
It has been running like a top since I took it out of the box. I haven't gone swimming in it yet, but it hasn't had any issues in the shower. Two complaints you will hear are that the box is cheap and the band is cheap. Yes, but I will say the stainless band is better than I expected. It was easy to remove the links - I did that with a large paperclip. Also, for an inexpensive band it looked decent and the edges were all rounded, with a good overall polished finish. The clasp is also good. It will pull hairs from your wrist, but I think that is not uncommon to almost any metal band. My bezel did pop off, because it got hung on an object. At first I thought I might have damaged it, but I took the wire out, re-positioned it, and it snapped right back on. I think it is actually ... Consult the internet for winding - there is a risk of over winding the watch. You can wind it a lot without it stopping, but the convention wisdom is that fully wound is 30 half turns, or no more than 60 full turns. The winding stem positions are also very unique to the watch. Good purchase, I would buy another.

The product quality of 'basic' Vostok watches and their movements, particularly the Amphibia models, has improved markedly during the past 20 years. As such, they represent extremely good value for money when compared to many similarly-priced quartz watches, the majority of which do not have jewelled movements and which will always require the button cell batteries to be replaced every few years. Timekeeping can usually be improved considerably by getting a 'proper' watchmaker to put the watch on an electronic 'Timegrapher' to check and adjust those factors that will affect good timekeeping. The great myth about these Russian-built Vostok timepieces is that they are simply cheap rubbish! Well, they are cheap for reasons associated with Russian labour costs and other factors such as ... They are most certainly not 'rubbish'. They are phenomenally robust and utterly dependable under the most gruelling conditions. The 2416B movement, and most of its derivatives, have a continuous history of production going back more than 70 years. You would not not buying a high-end watch with a chronometer-rated movement, but you would be buying a utilitarian watch that has a well-deserved reputation for total dependability and that will serve you well for decades! The servicing interval is a minimum of 10 years and all of the component parts are easily available, especially for these mid-range 'everyday' Vostok watches.
