    Great starter machine if you do a little research

    The bambino is a nice starter machine that can make quality espresso, as long as you learn a few basic things. The best results will require you to have a quality grinder to grind fresh beans before you brew. If you plan to use preground coffee and the pressurized baskets save yourself the effort and just buy a nespresso or something similar, you will just get frustrated. Once you learn a little about how to really make espresso (and it’s not hard) you won’t get better results from a machine until you start spending closer to the $2000 range, and even then you’re buying features over taste.

    Good looking and compact, this machine is great for a small kitchen. Only negative experience was with very finely ground coffee from a coffee shop, which the machine wasn't able to force hot water through. (Not enough pressure.) Fix is to not use the finest grind, or grind your own beans (which I now do.) The "wrench" for removing the tip of the steam tube is flimsy plastic - likely to break the first time you try to use it. (What were they thinking?) Use a small crescent wrench instead.
