This book is in Near Fine condition and has a Very Good- dust, jacket. The book and its contents are in clean, bright, condition. The text pages are clean and bright. The dust jacket, has noticable, generalized rubbing, several small to medium, sized edge tears, a couple of nicks to the rear flap joint and, some beginning spots of ground-in dirt. "Originally published, as an anonymous work in 1784, Italian Letters, or, The History, of the Count de St. Julian is William Godwin's only epistolary, novel. Assumed to be lost for the last hundred and fifty years,, its republication has been made possible by Burton R. Pollin's, discovery of a single copy in the Bristol University Library.", "William Godwin (3 March 1756 – 7 April 1836) was an English, journalist, political philosopher and novelist. He is, considered one of the first exponents of utilitarianism, and, the first modern proponent of anarchism. Godwin is most famous, for two books that he published within the space of a year: An, Enquiry Concerning Political Justice, an attack on political, institutions, and Things as They Are; or, The Adventures of, Caleb Williams, which attacks aristocratic privilege, but also, is the first mystery novel.
