It's our first of a series of tools that connect to smart devices and are specifically designed for the HVAC industry. The ABM-100 easily and instantly converts air speed into air volume for you. Then it records the data to a history log which can be emailed for professional looking reports. Download one of our free apps for iOS or Android and plug in your ABM-100 meter - it's really that easy. Enter the grille or duct dimensions and then hold it up to a grille or duct opening. Your phone does the rest. By using a series of algorithms the ABM automatically calculates the airflow volume.
Ok, here's a gadget I bought from these folks and use an awful lot for testing customer's furnace air flow at work. I used to use a $600 Kestrel unit for this but was convinced to by this by a fellow service tech who had one.
The app you download for either iOS or Android to run it couldn't be any simpler to use.
If you have need to know wind speed for any reason, this is a must have little unit for your tool box!
Great travel friendly device. I travel a LOT, going from job to job & needed something to suit my travel needs & wouldn't break the bank. This was a great find. Does what I need but don't expect accuracy below 80fpm. Not intended for accurate readings. But, was more than I expected at this price.
I have to admit that I am impressed with this little anemometer. With the app download it is quite capable. I have several handheld stand alone units that are not even close to being as accurate as this one. I checked the accuracy against my large "tent" unit and it measured the same values. You open the app, plug the anemometer into the headphone jack and then select the parameters ( size and shape of vent) and then take your measurements. After about a minute it will stop and give you the average cfm or whatever measurement you programmed. We now have 2, mine and one everybody else uses. I am a senior hospital engineer and we use these to set building flow and pressures related to air handlers.
