Lenny's best '90s album and certainly one of the Top 10 Pop releases from that decade. 4 stars for the original 1998 version.
Still remains my favorite Lenny Kravitz album to this day! Never heard him more creatively inspired and driven at the time, especially coming off a 3-year layoff that had him coping with his mother's passing due to cancer (TV actress Roxie Roker of 'Jeffersons' fame). On '5', Lenny experiments with more electronic sounds and even went so far as to record the whole album digitally like most of his fellow contemporaries were already doing by that point. Standout tracks include Live, I Belong To You, If You Can't Say No, Black Velveteen, Thinking Of You, Straight Cold Player, Fly Away, Little Girl's Eyes, Can We Find A Reason, a heavier-sounding take on the Guess Who hit American Woman, and Without You (the last two tracks featured exclusively on the 1999 re-release). Turns out I was wrong on BOTH accounts, lol! Lenny's a genuinely gifted artist at his very core (not just in the music field, mind you) and one that America should truly be thankful for in this day and age.

Excelent album. Lenny Kravitz it's great multitalented artist. In this album Lenny Kravitz create a new and fresh sound using a diversity of instruments and left beside his charasteristic 70's style sound. Just great.

I decided to buy this cd album is because my little brother loves this album of Lenny Kravitz Titled 5. According to him, it's one of the best albums he has ever made. I wouldn't know that for myself since I only know a few songs of him. I am very happy that I made my little brother happy by purchasing this album for him and he is enjoying it quite well.

very good cd.
this a good cd to have for any listener of kravitz or people who just want a funk/rock/soul mix of music.this was the first cd i bought of kravitz years ago but i lost the first so i got this one. Anyway,a good cd for car travel and has a mix of songs for nearly everyone.
