The best show UPN ever had - brought to an awesome dvd
The mid 90s seemed to lack good television - with notable exceptions to the X-files and other shows(some short lived). There were very few shows around that had us making a point to watch every time it was on, and leave us with a sense of fulfillment. Furthermore, not many shows would genuinely get you to think. There seemed to be a lack of mystery and good storytelling. Not enough shows could pull off being viscerally satisfying and cerebral. NOWHERE MAN, however, had it all. Suspense, unexpected twists, mystery, action, great acting, and an underdog that we could all root for. Bruce Greenwood brought a unique, smart, funny, clever, kind, decent, and likeable guy to life. You found yourself constantly in his corner ready to battle whatever mind bending twist that came next. Mark my ... Mark my words, this series will cause you to LOVE Bruce Greenwood, and cause you to HATE hollywood for misusing him constantly(with exception to Thirteen Days where he plays JFK) The basic theme was identity and what it means to be unique. Is it the people you know, your family, where you live, what you do, even who you were? When everything is stripped from you... are you still you? Another question the show asks alot is "what is reality", but a simple matter of memory, sight sound taste touch ect. Keeping in mind this show predates alot of the popular movies who made these questions popular (ala the matrix). This series, other than having tragic subject matter, was tragic in the fact that after being extended beyond a regular season... they cancelled it for no good reason whatsoever. The show was very popular and practically launched UPN which at the time was a nothing start-up network. Some even go as far as to speculate that the show hit a nerve somewhere along the line that was too close to home with its more conspiracy government oriented themes, particularly those that dealt with mind control. This is one of the many instances where fans of the show thank GOD for this DVD set. It has everything I could have hoped for and more. Episode length commentary, featurettes with the creator, Bruce Greenwood and some of the directors on EACH disc. Also, there is an interview with a CIA guy about covert operations and mind control. Plus the quality of the transfer is pretty dang sharp for a show that old, and I had it projected and it still looks good. If you liked the X-files, or like cool things in general... get this set its definitely worth it. Quality show, great DVD set.

FANTASTIC show
This show is fantastic and will keep you wanting to see another episode. The character development of Thomas Veil is extremely well done and the story line keeps you holding on. There are new twists which keep making you try to figure out the puzzle and where that new twist of information fits in. Sometimes it gets surreal, sort of a little on the Twin Peaks side of things, such as the episode of the 11 year old blind boy who has premonitions and warns Veil about the future and knows about his past. I wish they had more episodes to watch. I haven't gotten to the end yet, but when I do, it will be sad. This is highly recommended. Sort of a James Bond tied in with sci fi and surrealism. I love the character of Thomas Veil--not overly macho--just an all-around good guy with a ... This show is fantastic and will keep you wanting to see another episode. Cancelled too soon!
Excellent show. Tom (Bruce Greenwood) is a photographer who snaps a photograph of four hanging persons from a 3rd world country, and has it on display at a show. Suddenly, his life is erased. His wife doesn't know him, his friends don't know him, his accounts, history is erased. He finds himself being pursued by a secret conspiratorial group known as the "Committee". The series has him running, investigating the conspiracy. After a big reveal in the season finale, the show was not renewed. Boo buy it, it's great while it lasts!Excellent show. As good as I remembered it, if not better
Joel Surnow is one of the producers of the popular Fox TV show "24", but before "24", he helped create this great cult show for UPN. For fans of "24" who might have become disenchanted with the preposterous off-the-deep-end turns of Season 7, ...now is a great time to familiarize yourself with "Nowhere Man". A serialized show before it was fashionable, it's fun to watch this again now (knowing the inevitable conclusion of the series) and see how the pieces fit. I'm sure that the end episode was 'tweaked', knowing that they would not be renewed, but it's hard for me not to believe that they had the same destination in mind from the start. Nowhere Man is a bit like a cross between the old Incredible Hulk TV show (lone wanderer, from town-to-town), Lost ('coincidental' occurrences that ... Greenwood is put in the unenviable position as an actor of pretty much being the only recurring character every week, but he handles it with ease. Watch the complete Nowhere Man series, and you too will be repeating Veil's catch phrase, "Who are you people?"
