    A very nice shifter

    The shifter looks very very nice. When you shift it has a very satisfying and loud click. The left lever is not entirely friction, it has a lot of soft clicks (Shimano Light Action) which is very nice. It's not worse or better than an old downtube shifter, but you get a brand new product, not something that is 20-30 years old and might have problems with aging materials. Overall I like it a lot and I would recommend it to anyone, especially for the price.

    Renewed life on a classic

    On a gorgeous classic steel bike, I replaced my Shimano 600 STIs for these down tube shifters. My hands were never comfortable resting on the hoods of these STIs. I replaced them for some comfortable Cane Creek brake levers and installed these Shimano Sora down tube shifters, and it's way more comfortable. I love the snapping, crisp gear changing with these shifters. Super easy to install.

    Great Touring Shifters

    I use these primarily for a touring bike. So they are good for down tube shifting and can also be used for thumb shifters with adapters for straight bar commuters and mountain bikes. Guaranteed high Shimano quality.

    Keep It Simple Stupid :KISS

    I expect although a mid-grade component it will perform without a glitch or stammer for many thousands of miles. 8 speed DT shifters are vanishing because there are many who desire a more simplistic practice of cycling away from skinny tooth 11 and 12 speed cogsets and silly shifting systems utilizing micro processers.
