    Easy ratchet repair kit.

    Had almost all the parts I needed to rebuild the ratchet mechanism. The only thing missing was the larger spring which pushes the ball up against the pawl, so I used the original spring (which seemed in good shape). The rebuild kit did come with a smaller spring (smaller diameter, and shorter) and may have been for a slightly different model. The instructions indicated there is a bigger and a smaller spring in the kit, depending on model variations. But, it only had the smaller spring - no large one. Still, the ratchet now works great, and the problem I was trying to solve (it would not hold the socket onto the square drive) was instantly fixed by having the new square drive, due to the fresh spring-loaded captive ball on the square shaft (which now holds the socket to the shaft ...

    Fixed like new

    Replacement parts are just what was needed. Exact fit parts as described. Instructions were good. The spring tool described in the instructions would have been helpful to have as it took some time to carefully insert the small 4 tooth gear and ball bearing on the spring. Used a very small screwdriver (like for glasses) to hold the spring down with the ball bearing to get the 4 tooth gear in. Also had to push down from the opposite top to get it in.

    Good to go

    Shipping was prompt. The lever and bearing plate are black, rather than chrome as on original ratchets. Not all parts shown in the photo were present, with the spring and ball for the oil port in the head of ratchet 43185 not included. Ratchet 43186 does not have an oil port, so the small spring and ball aren't needed for it. Also the tool mentioned in the instructions to install the larger steel ball behind the pawl was not included, but a thin screwdriver or strip of sheet metal will work.

    Good OEM replacment
