I replaced Athlon II X2 250 with this quad core CPU, and HDD(drive C) with SSD. The total cost was about $70, and my old desktop's processing speed has increased twofold or more.

Installed in less than 15 mts
Dell inspiron one 2305 with athlon ll x 2 1.6 ghz originally. With now an athlon ll x 4 2.5 ghz, it definitely performs better like a newer computer in multitasking and everyday use. Just swap processors and that's it.

Low heat AM3 quad core
Too bad amd quit producing these processors, they're getting harder to find. AM3 is becoming obsolete now, although their are still quit a few AM3 based main boards available. This particular processor is probably the lowest power (45w) quad core, which makes it great for NAS or home server applications.

Perfect for a low power home server
I've been running Windows Home Server 2011 since, well, 2011. I've used several CPU's in it over the years. The last CPU's used in it were a 95w Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz Quad Core, then a 45w Athlon II X2 235e 2.7 GHz Dual Core. This is just a regular old tower with a cheap Gigabyte motherboard in it. The X4 idled at around 29 watts, and the X2 at about 12. The server spends most of its time idling, so over time that would add up. Seeing this for a super low price, I figured I'd give it a try. This CPU idles at 14.4 watts, not too far off from the X2, with 2 more cores. Home Server supports transcoding, which means there MIGHT be a benefit to using this CPU, but I've never noticed any issues even with the X2.
