The cheap, fast, and easy way to improve comfort on the old MTB.
I bought these for my commuter and errand bike, and they were a big improvement over the old flat bar. Being that these are higher than the old flats, my arms have more bend in them and my back was straighter, This was a big improvement in ridding comfort. Also, the bars angle back, which put my hands in a better position. It's a small detail that makes it easier to jump on the bike and enjoy it. We are not as flexible as we were in the 1990s, but that should not stop us from ridding the bikes we love.
