    Best hoods bar none--alternative hoods are quite inferior.

    I build and ride road bikes--always using Campy equipment. I actually prefer 10 speed set ups because they are significantly cheaper in the used market than 11 (or 12) and are just as good for 95% of the riders out there. Of course, being "vintage" the original lever hoods get damaged, mostly from crashes, and as a result, need to be replaced. There are cheaper aftermarket options, such as Hudz, which are often purchased over the original Campagnolo hoods--this is a mistake. Though at first glance these non-OEM replacement hoods may seem like an attractive option, because of both their lower price their wider range of color options, and easier installation (because they are made of a softer more compliant rubber) they are significantly inferior to the Campy hoods.
