About this product

Product Information

After a routine space exploration mission goes awry, you find yourself marooned on the planet Mazeon. To add insult to injury, the robotic residents are out to kill you. Now you're forced to fend off these relentless robots as you move through endless mazelike environments. In Berzerk, the goal is to make your way past the electrified walls forming each screen while using your laser gun to blast the hostile threats known as Automazeons. Firing your weapon involves pointing the joystick in one of eight directions and pressing a button. You can also lead robots into walls and even into their own shots to defeat them.

Points are awarded for every robot destroyed, and up to 255 extra lives can be earned for every 1,000 points scored. Once all robots are eliminated from the screen, you may have to escape the grinning face of Evil Otto. This supernatural being controls the Automazeons and will try to run into you, depending on the level you select. Since he is often invincible, you'll need to run as fast as you can to one of the available exits. Twelve game variations offer non-shooting robots, different point requirements for earning lives, and a choice of an invincible or rebounding Evil Otto. Berzerk for the Atari 2600 is based on the arcade game by Stern Electronics, Inc.

  • Better than the box makes it look! Nearly IDENTICAL to the arcade version!

We had Pac-Man now for nearly a full year and Berzerk had just came out! We were asking for a new game, but my mom couldn't afford one until her taxes were received. Well when they finally came, we went to Sears to get the "other game" and they told us that they had "SOLD OUT!" So as heartbroken as we were, we still continued to look at the selection and inevitably decided for Berzerk. BOY WAS I NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!!! It ended up being WAY BETTER than the other game that I was going to buy in the first place! hehehehe GOT TO HAVE if you like Atari!!!

  • Stunningly cool Atari display!

The absolute coolest way to display an Atari 2600 cartridge. A quality work of art, I had to have this retro game display when I saw it online and it looks better than the pictures. One of my favorite collectables!

  • Awesome game!

This game is a classic! I bought it because I had seen videos of people playing it, and it looked like a good time. It's pretty fun. Basically, you run around and shoot aliens and such. The controls are excellent, and the sounds are awesome. The only thing I don't like is when you respawn. Sometimes, you end up between two aliens and you can't move without dying. That's the games only drawback. I highly recommend this game to anyone with an Atari!

  • A fun classic

An atari great. You walk around and shoot robots in any direction.

  • Berzerk (Atari 2600)

What I like about this game is the same thing I liked about it 25 years ago. This game is one of the most look-a-like versions of the arcade game that Atari 2600 has to offer. This version has no voice of course. Game play becomes fast and competitive, considering that you are alway playing against the computer. I prefer the difficult level with the happy/evel ball for the challenge. 25 years ago, it was all about the highest score, so I left out the scary ball. I bought Berzerk because my original is lost and it is still common to find today.
