Comparision of performance to an outside stick antenna
When I received this device, I decided to make some comparisons to the standard outside stick antenna in my 1955 Chevrolet before I installed it. On the FM band, The Metra 44-UA20 Antenna seemed to received a few more stations then my fully extended outside Antenna. And as I suspected, it preformed pretty badly on the AM band, because of it's tiny internal antenna. I would estimate, the Metra 44-UA20 Antenna received only about 25% of what my standard outside stick antenna received on the AM band. I had the Metra 44-UA20 Antenna stuck to the center of the front windshield glass for the best reception. So, if you cannot or do not want an outside stick antenna, this antenna will work well on the FM band. It works almost as well stuck to the top edge of a window, but not by the bottom edge. I ... 2011 camaro convertible, Deleted the factory antenna and wanted a cheap hideaway. This not only does the job but did it better than the one that came with the car at a fraction of the size and with the ability to get excellent signal even while hidden ! Required an adapter to mount to my stock radio, other than that it was straight forward, find a spot and take peal the 3m sticker on. Mount it away from metal for the best results, I stuck mine behind my rear view mirror2011 camaro convertible, Deleted the factory antenna and wanted a cheap hideaway. This not only does the job but did it better than the one that came with the car at a fraction of the size and with the ability to get excellent signal even while hidden !
