These shinai are inexpensive, but I would not recommended them for regular training, especially when working with a partner. The kind of bamboo used is not very durable, and the shinai doesn't feel very balanced. The surface of the tsukagawa gets roughed up every time you put on or take off the tuba and tsubadome. That may only be cosmetic initially, but with prolonged use, it would probably cause actual damage to the tsukagawa. I'd recommend spending just a little bit more and getting a better shinai. I can't say that it's a good value because even though it was very inexpensive, I won't really use this item, so it ended up being a waste of money.
