I love this little machine. AND this seller includes instructions to a point. Here's what you do. If you have a ring with a split shank, you can not go past the split point. Put the ring into each roller until you've found the right size for the ring. Use a permanent marker to mark the ring at the stopping point where the ring splits. If there's no split, you stop before you touch any part of the setting. As the instructions state, put the roller in the alignment pin and insert both back into the enlarger. Tighten it down until it holds the ring firmly. Turn the handle left to the stop point then back to the right stop point. You may have to tighten more as the ring stretches. Remove the ring after one left and right and put it on a ring mandrel to check the size/or put it on to check the ... I love this little machine. AND this seller includes instructions to a point. Two dies too big
Two dies came with the bender. The dies are rather large are it is difficult to get 1 to 1.5 mm wire bent into a ring shape. I did bend a 2.3 mm wire into a ring shape without difficulty. I will have to order a smaller die which cost in the neighborhood of $35.00. This sure lowers the value of this bender. Perhaps one of the other ones which are more expensive would in fact be a better value. The base is good on this bender just the dies are just to big for smaller wires.Two dies came with the bender. Saved money by sizing my rings up to 2 sizes larger to accommodate my arthritis enlarged knuckles. Practice on less valuable rings first. You will need a steel ring mandrel & jewelry hammer to reshape the ring shank after stretching, as the process causes it to elongate. But once it's put back to round, it looks fine. Once you get the size you want, using a Dremel tool to polish it up. Note: this tool does a rather crude job, but it served my purpose and saved me money. I just had to settle for less than perfect results. Pretty simple to use. Just match up the right cam for your ring and in a few turns, applying various pressure to the ring shank you ring will grow in size. Silver is easy, gold takes more strength but it works!! Very happy!!
