Love this movie. Saw it in the theater in ‘71. Been watching some of the older movies lately and thought I had this on dvd but didn’t so I bought this one. The quality was good but I think it was a copy from an original. One of the Best Movies, Ever.
A cult classic. The auto industry gives cars to Hollywood. In appreciation, Hollywood made this movie about a car. To win a bet, a professional car drove cross country with police not far behind. I don't want to say more. You will agree that Vanishing Point should be awarded with a blue ribbon. You are incomplete after watching Vanishing Point. Tarrence Tarintino, the director of "Kill Bill" made a movie that evolves Curt Russell. That movie is called "Death Proof." It features the exact same car as Vanishing Point. Not to give anything away, but Vanishing Point actually has two endings. While Vanishing Point stands tall, alone, the big picture is not revealed unless you watch both of these movies. Some scenes are not suitable for children. There is a European version of Vanishing Point that has original clips, but I really like the American version. I have watched Vanishing Point fifty times or more, especially when I am entertaining guests. Vanished Point is a cult classic with a following. The plot, and suspense are great, but to tell you the truth, it is not about the actors. It is about the car. Buy it today, before it goes out of print, but also buy Death Proof. You will see why. One of the best old school chase movies ever filmed. Barry Newman is great as the speed loving driver. Other than a few cuss words and brief nudity, this shouldn't be rated R. The "complete" collector's item!
Always a fan of this movie as my first car was a 72 Charger - cousin to the Challenger. But only recently did I learn a seminal scene was cut that somewhat explains Kowalski's decision in the end. The scene was left in the U.K. version which just happens to be on the flip side of this DVD. (Who knew DVDs could flip over for more content?!)
