A great portable, digital, field or concert recorder: Sony MZ-R700
The Sony MZ-R700 is one of the absolute best Mini Disc recorder/players ever! It uses a single 1.5V AA battery or a 3V dc adapter. It features both line and microphone inputs. Sony Minidisc MZ-R700 rocks
I love sound, the ease of operation — both the main unit and the backlit remote, and the compact size and light weight. Classical music sounds clear and majestic. Rock and blues music sounds great in the basic bass mode, but you can bump up the bass one or two notches. This model requires only 1 AA battery, not the rare lithium batteries. Used MD player good for gentle, limited use.
I really like the design of the MZ-R700 and the look of it. And I love that all it needs is a single AA battery. The one I bought does play and record, BUT it has issues depending on which end is facing up scanning and playing discs. I read that this is because of some fault in the laser design that worsens over time. If you're just looking for something to play back old discs stationary on a desk or tabletop, this unit is fine. But be prepared that if you buy a used MD player it probably is not going to work perfectly even if listed as "tested and working". Best field recorder for the Money!
The best field recorder for the money!!! Make a legit stereo recording anywhere and store it on a hard mini disc. We actually recorded a live album with this years ago. Best Idea machine!! Did not preform like it should, looked nice though
Mini player made odd motor sounds and did not play music continuously, as well as my refurbished one of eight years. It did play but at times it sounded like a an old Commodore 64 loading up disks. And would not play anymore until stopped and play was hit again. It would then run for several songs and then do the same thing, grunting and groaning and no more music.
