Inspiring, instructive, and portable -- an excellent guide book
I have other embroidery guides but the books by Judith Baker Montano are becoming my favorites. The illustrations and instructions for stitches are clear and easy to follow. I like the variations she provides for basic stitches and am inspired by photos of her own work. It is helpful to see how the stitches look when stitched on real fabric. This volume has a whole section on crazy quilt combinations. Although I don't do crazy quilts this section helps me see ways to get different effects by combining stitches. Her books also feature her own work and techniques she uses for free form embroidery. The small size and spiral binding allow me to pack it in a project bag to take when we travel or sit waiting for appointments. I also purchased "Free Form Embroidery" and "Floral Stitches" and find the content to be different enough in each book to make it worthwhile to give each of them a place in my craft collection.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
