High Quality, Excellent Value
The Lexivon LX-771 Multifunction Micro Torch Set is a very versatile high quality torch. The torch itself has an aluminum tank and feels quite comfortable in the hand. It has a child proof locking mechanism that I know some prefer to remove, however I don't find it a inconvenience. It comes with a removable base. It is somewhat difficult to fit the torch into the base but I find that more comforting that the torch is not about to detach from the base on its own. I like that the base is detachable so it doesn't interfere when working in small spaces or at a difficult angle. It also has a locking mechanism so the torch can be used hands free. I have encountered no problems with starting the torch. The flame is adjustable and it produces a very beautiful flame. I found the torch very ... I found the torch very easy to fill with butane and the torch hold enough gas for two minutes of continuous use. The torch comes with 7 attachments for flame free soldering, heating, including a heat deflector, as well as cutting, etc. It has two wrenches for attaching/removing the attachments as well as a sponge. The whole set comes in a plastic case. There is a foam insert that holds the pieces in place securely but removing the pieces is easy. The plastic of the case is fairly sturdy. The hinges have separate plastic inserts but still function by bending plastic which will be subject to fracture over time. I worry most about the latches that like the hinges functions by bending plastic. However the plastic at the point where the latch bends is very thin and I am afraid they are not going to last long. All in all the Lexivon LX-771 Multifunction Micro Torch Set lives up to its name and is the nicest set I found. I have brand name propane, MAPP gas, and MAPP/oxygen torches. I believe of all 4 torches I like this micro torch the best as it is the most comfortable to hold and use. I very highly recommend this torch to anyone.
