About this product

Product Information

The popular line of Hasbro Transformer toys features various types of robots. These include some of the original main characters, such as Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream. While most of the robots are either an Autobot or a Decepticon, some play a more specialized role. Metroplex belongs to the special leader class of Transformers. Like many Transformers, Metroplex eats energon to survive and is a robot in disguise, transforming into a gigantic excavator vehicle. Unlike the original generations of characters, Metroplex towers over the Autobots and Decepticons. A member of the Gigantion class of Transformers, Metroplex also comes with a colossal axe named Sparkdrinker and has a personal attendant named Drill Bit. Drill Bit features a drill bit on his right arm and serves as Metroplex’s second-in-command, with many of the other mini-con robots reporting directly to him. Drill Bit and the other mini-con robots worked with Vector Prime to secure the Cyber Planet Key deep underground on the giant planet Gigantion. Like other Gigantions, Metroplex features hardpoints to mount a variety of mini-cons with the ability to hold up to 14. The Transformers found themselves on Gigantion after they left Cybertron in their search across the galaxy for the four Cyber Planet Keys, each a portion of the Primus life-force located on a planet within a separate universe. Their end goal was to plug the keys into the Omega Lock and unlock the AllSpark to help them defeat Unicron. Like in the original series, the Decepticons present an obstacle to overcome. The titan Gigantions tower over the smaller transformers, but most seek to help the Autobots in their quest for the key. Opposing Optimus Prime and his Autobot allies are the Decepticons along with their leader Megatron. Prime and the good Transformers eventually triumph over their enemies with the help of their new, large-size allies, the Gigantion Metroplex and others on the planet. Able to transform into a variety of robot modes, including a full-sized standard mode or a shorter and sturdier work mode, Metroplex’s ultimate guise is in the form of a bucket excavator, of which the bucket-wheel/shovel assembly attaches via a rotator and features many ratchet-joints. The bucket-wheel rotates, but not freely. The transformer’s bucket-wheel/shovel assembly also transforms into Sparkdinker, the toy’s colossal axe. Using the Cyber Planet Key transforms the wheel into the axe head and activates an electronic light on the toy. The Hasbro Metroplex action figure serves as part of the leader class series of the Transformer action figure line. One of the lead builders on the city planet of Gigantion, Metroplex comes in a white color with a mixture of blue, black, and red trim. The various modes that Metroplex transforms into include the full-size robot mode, the shorter work mode, and the city mode. The mini-cons attach to the hardpoints on the toy.

  • It is okay.

Original Metroplex transformed into Autobot Headquarters. This one doesn't. Should have been named something different. Otherwise, it is okay.
