Our first electronic lock
Amazing lock It was very easy to install and it fits perfectly in the old hole of our old door. Works great and I am not carrying a key when we go out for a short time. Works okay but not for the feint of heart.
I liked the look, and materials that this lock is made of along with the smart lock feature it is a great lock and has many other programming positives. That being said I have more than a few dislikes. 1. Not for older doors that are less than 1 3/8 inches thick and there is no spacer available either from Kwikset. 2. It needs a extra set of hands to keep from dropping stuff. 3. It is tricky to install if you have never installed a smart key lock before (READ instructions thoroughly and often). Programming instructions are easy enough. This locks mechanism is noisy and the first lock I bought was no good in that part but the seller made up for that. My advise to the person installing this lock in a old door is to have the tools and watch YouTube vids for help.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great product/
Deadbolt works great; however the instructions that come with the lock are not as thorough as they could be in explaining all coding details. It is best to go to Ytbe for complete visual installation tutorial. I had no problem in getting the deadbolt to lock when using the code, but I could not conclude how to get the bolt to unlock when using the code. Don't be fooled
You cannot buy a chip for a 913 to make it a 914. As a regular 913, the lock is very nice. But I was lied to and thought I could make it a 914, as the seller instructed me to purchase a chip. Needless to say after calling Kwikset, and troubleshooting the problem with the unit not working, I was informed you simply cannot make a 913 a 914, they are made differently.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Amazing. I got this because I forget to lock the door. Now after 30 secs it locks itself. I find I dont even attempt to lock the door anymore cause this works superbly. Turnpiece shaft
The turnpiece shaft was installed incorrectly at the factory. So in Step 4 of the installation guide I couldn't align the shaft as it was shown. I had to take apart the whole assembly, that added a good amount installation time. Perfect Solution for a safe house
I got sick and tired of having to unlock and relock both my back door and the garage door every time I went from the house to the garage I bought one of these for the three doors. Now I can never lock myself out of the house and they lock automatically so I don't have to check all the doors at night. Some blips but it is OK
While the product specs say it is fine for a 1 3/8" + door, it did not fit correctly in my 1.5" door and I had to have a locksmith shim it and do some adjusting. When I contacted Kwikset, they apologized and are sending a replacement. I am not sure what will be different as the door remains the same width and the lock, I assume, has the same Item number. Anyway, the lock now works fine. Easy to code. I would have been able to install myself if it hadn't been for the misfit so spent extra $100 for locksmith. I do think it strange that in order to light keypad, you have to hit "lock" button and it isn't in the directions?Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Quality without spending too much
I had a similar smartcode lock before and moved into a new home. The other one worked great and never had any problems with it, so decided to buy another one. This lock is easy to install and the inside the door portion is smaller than the previous versions from top to bottom and looks more natural to me. The outside buttons light up when you hit the lock button at the top so you can see in the dark when entering and it also has the smartkey feature so you can easily match it to others in the home so that all the locks match with the same key. My only negatives are that my old one had a audio alert to confirm that it locked or let you know that the door was not lined up properly so that you could adjust the closure and press lock again if needed. If this one has that, I have not figured out how to activate it. Also, with the smaller inside panel you have to remove some screws to access the battery pack when they start to get low where as the older one just snapped off to access the batteries.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
