This DeWalt (older model) DW945 (one of two) was purchased on eBay, used and unloved. (I have an original/duplicate.) The switch on the original/duplicate went out. Searching I found a couple older model DeWalt DW945 used and cheaper than a new switch! I elected to purchase two used DW945 3/8 keyless 12v drills. I had to rely upon different previous owners. My needs: drilling multiple holes with one drill and driving structural screws with the other drill...in a one-two process.
The DeWalt DW945 is a great model that I have utilized for almost 20 years. I am glad I could inexpensively update the switch. I now have extra parts, without a switch of course, and a half dozen more 12v rechargeable batteries.
These drills may find a home within the next generation of my family!
If there is a concern with cost, longevity and environmental waste it would be the cadmium rechargeable batteries. Four new replacement batteries cost a small bundle quite a bit more than two used DW945 drills on eBay.
