    Progressive springs

    My '05 Dyna FXDCI seemed soft in front, especially braking. Also low ride height, frequently scrubbing foot pegs. I found the recommended 2" length for pipe spacers shorter overall than the springs I removed. Easy to assemble. Considering the recommendation that experimentation was ok, I changed to 2 1/4" spacers. More like original protrusion, and more challenging to get cap threaded. (Dennis Kirk has a fine socket for that job.) Now the at rest exposed shock length is around 5", which happens to be similar to my '03 Sportster, and I am happy with ride quality and ride height. I also changed shock oil, using HD type E recommended, with same (recommended) 260 ml. volume as what came out. Very happy with results.

    Worth the $

    These springs are much better than OEM. I also changed the oil and filled the tube to the suggested number of inches from the top of the fork tube. It reduced sag significantly and smoothed out the ride. Shortly after, I installed Progressive Suspension 444 shocks with a pair 1/2" longer than stock. This made my Harley FXDC ride better in the sometimes rough roads in the WNC mountains and raised the machine which significantly improved corner handling and reduced foot peg dragging to a minimum. Makes for a safer and much "funner" ride. Little Harley "crotch rocket".

    Great springs at a great price.

    These worked great on my 2000 XL1200C. The factory POS Harley springs were WAY too soft and would bottom out pulling into gas stations. I had the old ones out and the new Progressive springs in under 30 minutes. No more bottoming out.....ever. Progressive suggests a maximum of 200 ml of 10 weight oil....which was way too much for my forks. That much oil made the front end hard as a rock and would have blown the fork seal if I hit anything hard. I just drained them and will add a little bit at a time.
